ADHD and Autism Assessments

What happens during an assessment?

Your assessment may include:

  • A detailed clinical interview
  • Discussion of your current concerns and developmental history
  • Review of standardised questionnaires
  • Review of relevant medical, educational, or occupational information
  • Information from family members, parents, carers, teachers, or partners (where appropriate and with consent)

Following the assessment, you will receive a written report outlining the clinician’s findings and recommendations.

No. The purpose of the assessment is to determine whether you meet recognised diagnostic criteria.

Possible outcomes include:

  • A diagnosis of ADHD
  • A diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • No diagnosis
  • A recommendation for further assessment or additional information before a conclusion can be reached

Our clinicians provide independent clinical opinions based on the information available at the time of assessment.

Assessment times vary depending on individual circumstances. You will be advised of the expected duration when booking your appointment. Some assessments may require more than one appointment.

Yes. Following completion of your assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written report summarising:

  • Assessment findings
  • Clinical observations
  • Diagnostic outcome (where appropriate)
  • Recommendations for support or reasonable adjustments

Yes. With your consent, we can send a copy of your assessment report to your GP or another healthcare professional.

Treatment

No. Insight Neurodevelopment Clinic does not prescribe medication.

No. We are an assessment-only service. If treatment or ongoing support is required following your assessment, we recommend discussing appropriate options with your GP or another qualified healthcare provider.

Where clinically appropriate, we may offer follow-up appointments to explain your assessment findings or answer questions about your report. We do not provide ongoing treatment or long-term clinical management.

Booking

You can book online through our website or contact us directly using our enquiry form, email, or telephone. Once payment has been received (where applicable), your appointment will be confirmed.

Before your assessment, you may be asked to complete questionnaires and provide:

  • Medical history
  • Developmental history
  • Educational history
  • Employment history (where applicable)
  • Previous reports (if available)

Providing as much relevant information as possible helps ensure a thorough assessment.

You will need:

  • A stable internet connection
  • A computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone
  • A working camera and microphone
  • A private, quiet environment for your appointment

Reports and Recognition

Many healthcare professionals find independent assessment reports helpful. However, acceptance of independent reports is entirely at the discretion of individual NHS services and local NHS Trusts. Insight Neurodevelopment Clinic cannot guarantee that any organisation will accept or act upon our reports.

Many employers, universities, colleges, and educational providers accept independent clinical reports when considering reasonable adjustments. However, acceptance policies vary between organisations, and we cannot guarantee acceptance.

Confidentiality

Yes. Your personal and clinical information is handled confidentially and in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Information is only shared with your consent unless disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect you or others from serious harm.

Fees

Current fees are listed on our website. Assessment fees are payable before your appointment unless otherwise agreed.

Important Notice

Insight Neurodevelopment Clinic provides ADHD and Autism assessments and diagnostic services only.

We do not prescribe medication, provide ongoing treatment, or offer medication management.

If you require treatment following your assessment, we will provide a comprehensive diagnostic report by our Consultant Psychiatrist that you can discuss with your GP or an appropriate specialist.
